ALL-IRELAND SUCCES: Two local athletes Victor Costello and Luke Fitzpatrick competed in the National Indoor Athletic Finals in Magerafelt, Co. Derry on last Saturday 19th March. Both athletes won Al-Ireland titles with Victor Costello from Goodwinsgardens winning gold in the U14 high jump and Luke Fitzpatrick, Loughbrack, Kells winning gold in the U13 600 meters. Congratulations to both athletes on their success. Victor and Luke are both members of Kilkenny City Harriers Athletic Club.
OSORY DIOCESAN PILGRIMAGE TO LOURDES: Applications are now being accepted for The Ossory Pilgrimage, May 22nd to 27th. HISTORY THROUGH THE LENS OF A CAMARA: A lecture sponsored by the South Kilkenny Historical Society will take place on this Thursday, March 24th in the Parish Hall, Mullinavat (opposite the Church) at 8.00 p.m. Admission is €5. The speaker is Mr Jimmy Fitzgibbon.
DUNAMAGGAN G.A.A. CLUB will hold its next meeting in Kilmoganny on next Monday 28th March at 7.30 p.m.. The members of the committee will meet and view the proposed location of new sporting facilities and then continue their meeting in St. Eoghan’s Centre, Kilmoganny. It is intended that a member of the Kilkenny Leader Partnership Company will attend and outline potential funding opportunities for community facilities which are not exclusive to any one organisation. Congratulations to William Phelan and Peter Kenneally of Dunamaggan Hurling Club who are members of the St. Kieran’s College team panel which qualified for the All Ireland College’s Hurling Final by defeating Charlaville C.B.S. by 3 – 10 to 0 – 7 in the All-Ireland Semi- Final in Tipperary last Saturday.
THE MASS FOR CHILDREN who will receive their First Holy Communion next May will be celebrated in St. Leonard’s Church, Dunamaggan on next Sunday at 11.00 a.m.
