KELLS HANDBALL CLUB: The County Gael Linn U13 Mixed
Doubles was played on Saturday 10th January and representing Kells
were Joe Cowhig and Olivia Mahoney.  They
played well but on the day came up against a stronger Galmoy pair. In the
Juvenile League in the U 16 A Ciaran Cooney (Clogh) and Conor Condon (Kells)
won a game each, in the Girls U 13 B Breanna O’Dwyer
(Kells) lost out to Eva Brennan (Clogh). In the Ladies 2 league Kirsty Maher (Kells) defeated Deirdre
Purcell (Windgap); in Division 2 Diarmuid Burke (Kells) defeated John O’Neill
(Goresbridge) in the 3rd game. In the Boys U16 (1) Final Conor
Murphy (Kells) defeated Ciaran Cooney (Clogh); in the Girls U 15 final Edel
Mulholland (O’Loughlin’s) defeated Kym Ryan (Kells); in the Girls U 13 (1)
final Olivia O’Mahony (Kells) defeated Ciara Walsh (Kells); in the Boys U 16
(2) final Rory Lodge (Kells) defeated Cillian Lafford (Kells). Congratulations
and well done to everyone who participated in the league. In the Adult Leinster 40 x 20 championship in the Intermediate Singles
Brendan Burke (Kells) defeated Peter Hughes (Wexford); in the Ladies Junior B Singles
Kirsty Maher (Kells) defeated Aileen Hennessy (Kilkenny) and in the Junior B Singles
Diarmuid Burke (Kells) defeated John O’Neill (Kilkenny).

KILMOGANNY BRIDGE CLUB: Results of Wednesday 7th January: 1st: Paul
Tomsett & Dave Sutton; 2nd: Margaret Grace & Eileen Grace; 3rd:
Marie Comerford & Betty Cuddihy. As usual visitors are always welcome and
partners are not required.



 


DUNAMAGGAN HURLING CLUB A.G.M. took
place last Friday 9th January in St. Leonard’s Hall, Dunamaggan.
Club Chairman, John Hickey, welcomed all to the meeting and thanked all club
members who assisted and helped the club in any way during the past year. He
thanked all mentors, selectors, team managers, club committees and supporters.
He thanked Joe Sheridan, the club’s main sponsor for his continued support and all who
organized and supported the golf classic. He thanked all who supported the club
through annual membership and the purchase of ‘Piltown tickets’ and other
fundraising activities including the ‘first goal’ event, the DKK lotto, Deidre
Ryan for Club Gear sales the numerous stewards and all who assisted in ensuring
the pitch was properly prepared for all matches. He extended special thanks to
the Field Committee whose work ensured that the Field was in great condition
all through the year. He extended his sympathy to the family of Dick O’Keeffe
who died suddenly during the year. Dick, he and many others stated, was a great
clubman who always responded to any requirement on the club. He will be greatly
missed by all. The chairperson also wished Andrew O’Neill a speedy recovery
from his injuries in a recent accident. He also congratulated Michael Cody on
double All Ireland success with St. Kieran’s College and with the Kilkenny
Minor team, and David Herity and William Phelan on All Ireland success with the
Kilkenny Senior team.


Club secretary,
Martin Crehan, gave a comprehensive report on the club’s activities during the
past year. Treasurer, Colin Herity, gave a comprehensive financial report and
thanked all who assisted in raising finance. The income once again exceeded
expenditure but financial outlays during the coming year, especially the
purchase of playing facilities in Kilmoganny will require additional finance
during the coming year.


The following
officials were elected for the coming year: President: Rev. Nicholas Flavin;
Vice-Presidents; Seamus Martin & Billy Heffernan; Chairman: John Hickey;
Vice-Chareman: Chairman of Juvenile Club: Secretary: Martin Crehan; Insurance
Officer: Andrew O’Neill; Treasurer: Philip Tallon; PRO: James Rossiter; Rep. to
County Board: Dick O’Shea; Rep. to Southern Board: Noel McDonald; ASAP &
Child Welfare Officer: Aoife O’Neill; Registrar: Eugene O’Donovan; Facilities,
Maintenance & Development Officer: Malachy Hogan. The executive committee
is the officers and Matt Doran, Andrew O’Neill, Denis Walsh and Pat Long. The
membership of the field committee and the finance committees will be decided by
the executive.


TEAM MANAGEMENTS:
Intermediate Team: Sean Fox, William Coogan and selector to be agreed by
executive. Junior Team: Pat Long & Andrew O’Neill; U 21 Team: Noel Hickey,
Denis Lahart & Kenny Moore.


Membership was fixed
at: Family Membership €160; Adult Players €150; Student Players €80; Adult club
members €50 and Juvenile members €40. 
Players were reminded that membership is essential so as to qualify for
player insurance cover. Following a wide ranging debate on a number of topics
the meeting concluded with a vote on the Clubman of the year and the Club
player of the year. Finally a vote of sympathy was pass to all who suffered
bereavement during the past year and a minutes silence was observed.


 


KILMOGANNY FOOTBALL CLUB held its A.G.M. last
Friday in St. Leonard’s Hall, Dunamaggan. Chairman, Mick Lyons, welcome all to
the meeting and then gave a comprehensive report on the years activities. He
thanks his fellow officers and all who assisted the club during the past year.
Officers elected: Chairman: Mick Lyons; Secretary: Bob Doherty; Treasurer:
Philip Tallon; PRO James Rossiter; Rep to Co. Board: Jim Fallon. Senior Team
Management: Padraig Lawton, Mick Lyons and Brendan Moore. It was noted that the
2014 U 21 championship had not yet commenced.


 


DUNAMAGGAN DASH: Following on from the success of last year’s inaugural
"Dunna Dash" in aid of St. Leonard's School, Dunnamaggin, The Family Fun 5K
walk, Jog or Run will be held again this year on 1st March at 12:30. Further details will follow closer to the
time.


THE ANNUAL MASS for families of children who died in infancy or pre-birth will be
celebrated in St. Eoghan’s Church, Kilmoganny on Saturday 24th
January at 7.00 p.m.


 


HISTORY OF DUNAMAGGAN: The next meeting will take place in St. Eoghan’s Centre,
Kilmoganny on next Tuesday 20th January at 8.00 p.m. All those who
still have not submitted material are asked to do so as soon as possible. All
are welcome to attend the meeting.
