QUEENIE ENRIGHT (nee
PRENDERGAST)
was laid to rest in Kilmoganny cemetery
on last Saturday 24th January. Queenie was born and christened
Margaret Prendergast but from a very young age was only known as Queenie. Like
many of her generation she emigrated to London when she was 17 years old. She
always had a welcome in her home for family and others from Ireland and
especially Dunamaggan. She never lost her attachment to home and with her four
children Joe, Caroline, Susie and Gary spent their six weeks Summer holidays in
Dunamaggan and Ireland. She lived in Watford Road, Sudbury, London and died on
13th January after an illness. She was a daily mass attended in her
local church where mass was celebrated on 22nd before her removal to
Johnston’s Funeral Home in Kilkenny from which her remains were removed to St.
Leonard’s Church, Dunamaggan on Friday evening where they were received by Rev.
Nicholas Flavin P.P. The mass of Christian Burial was celebrated by Rev.
Nicholas Flavin with concelebrant Rev. P-. Brennan O.Carm. members of the
family read the readings, prayers of the Faithful and reflection after
communion. Members of the family also presented the gifts at the offertory.  Many friends and relatives made the journey
from London to attend the funeral. The chief mourners were her children Joe,
Caroline, Susie and Gary, her partner Anto her brothers Tommy, Sean, Paddy,
Frankie and sisters Bridget and Carmel. She was laid to rest, in accordance
with her wishes, with her parents in Kilmoganny Cemetery. Her family selected
the hymns for her funeral and the final farewell was the singing of “The Rose
of Mooncoin” as her remains left the church and again in the Cemetery at the
conclusion of prayers. May she rest in peace.
