DUNAMAGGIN GAA CLUB registration for all club members will be held on Saturday 21st
February in St. Eoghan’s Centre, Kilmoganny after 7.30 p.m. mass and also
Sunday 22nd February after 11.00 a.m. mass in St Leonard's Hall,
Dunnamaggin and in the Scouts Hall, Kells after 11.30 a.m. mas. You are asked
to please register on one of these sessions.

THE SHRUGHAWADDA PLAYERS will stage the comic masterpiece ‘The
Cripple of Inishmaan’ by Martin McDonagh in St Eoghan`s Centre, Kilmoganny,
from Tuesday 17th to Friday 20th February at 8.15p.m.
nightly. The play, set on the small Aran Island community of Inishmaan in 1934,
centres on Billy, a cripple boy for whom life holds little enjoyment. There are
lots of colourful characters in this play, plenty comedy and humour with a
little satire also. The play once again is directed by Michael Dowling. The
co-ordinators are Alycia Kearney and Jackie Kenneally. The cast is as follows:
Pete Dunne as Billy Clavin, Martin O` Shea as Johnnypateenmike, Eamon Murphy as
Babbybobby, Willie Kearney as Doctor McSharry, making his debut Keith
Fitzpatrick as Bartley, Biddy Hawe and Claire O`Neill, also making her debut
with the Shrughawadda Players, play the parts of the two aunties, Kate and Eileen,
Amy Murphy new to the drama group also stars as Slippy Helen. The Mammy is ably

KELLS HANDBALL: In the County 40
x 20 championship in Junior Singles Patrick Brennan (Mothel) defeated Dan Breen
(Kells); in the Senior Singles Brendan Burke (Kells)
defeated Daniel Love (Clogh) and Diarmuid Burke (Kells) lost out to William
Love (Clogh); in the Junior Singles Noel Doherty (Galmoy) defeated John
Fitzgerald (Kells); in the Senior Singles Peter Funchion (Kells) defeated Ger
Anthony (Mullinavat); in the Senior Singles Brendan Burke (Kells) lost out to
Nicholas Anthony (Mullinavat). In the Leinster 40 x 20 championship in the
Intermediate Singles Brendan Burke (Kells) was defeated by David Hope (Offaly);
in the  Junior B Singles Diarmuid Burke
(Kells) defeated Jamie Balfe (Kildare) but was defeated by Michael Donovan
(Laois) in the final; in the Ladies Junior B Singles Kirsty Maher (Kells) lost
out to Niamh Dunne (Laois); in  the Open
Doubles Peter Funchion/Eddie Bourke lost out to M. Walsh/Nickey Anthony
(Kilkenny) and Brendan Burke/Ciaran Neary lost out to Eoin Kennedy/Carl Browne
(Dublin); in the Junior B Doubles 
Diarmuid Burke/Anthony Martin (Kells) 
defeated Jamie Balfe/Kieran Tackaberry.


 


ASH WEDNESDAY 18th February is a day of Fast (3
Meals) & Abstinence (no meat). Masses and the blessing and distribution of
ashes will be as follows: St. Leonard’s Church, Dunamaggan at 9.30 a.m.; St.
Nicholas’ Church, Windgap at 11.00 a.m., St. Joseph’s Home, Kilmoganny at 12.10
p.m., St.
Nicholas’ Church, Tullahought at 7.00 p.m. and St. Eoghan’s Church, Kilmoganny
at 7.30 p.m.

A TIME TO MEET OTHERS
BEREAVED BY SUICIDE:
Kilkenny Bereavement Support
will host 6 nights of Group Support for Adults Bereaved by Suicide in recent
times or in the past. It will take place on Tuesday nights commencing on Feb.
24th 2015 at 8.00 p.m. at Villa Maria, Talbot’s Inch, Freshford
Road, Kilkenny. The Group will provide the bereaved with the experience of a
safe and comforting place where they will receive the support of fellow
bereaved. The group experience will help participants to understand the
grieving process, remember the deceased and discuss coping strategies for
difficult times, e.g. special dates and events. For more information, please

 KILMOGANNY BRIDGE CLUB:


Results of Wednesday 4th February: 1st;
Margaret Dunne & David Sutton; 2nd: Elizabeth Lanigan &
Nicholas Flavin; 3rd: Mary Dunne & Philip Brennan. As usual
visitors are always welcome and partners are not required.


SCHOOL ENROLMENTS:  Parents/Guardians are reminded that pupils
should be enrolled in the Parish Schools St. Brigid’s, Kells, St. Eoghan’s,
Kilmoganny or St. Leonard’s, Dunamaggan as soon as possible. Contact the
relevant school for further information.


 


MAUDIE REID, Kells died in St. Luke’s Hospital, Kilkenny
after a brief illness last Thursday. She is survived by her children Mary,
Mick, Joe, Patsy, Johno, Mark, Martin, Gerry, Angela, Siobhán, Leonard, Olivia
and Val, her many grand-children, in-laws, relatives and friends. Her remains
were removed from her daughter Olivia’s home in Kellsgrange to Kells Church on
Saturday evening where they were received by Rev. Nicholas Flavin. The mass of
Christian Burial was celebrated by Rev. Kieran Cantwell on Sunday morning.
Members of the Reid family enhanced the celebration with beautiful music. The
readings and prayers of the faithful were read by family members. Maudie lived
all her life in the Kells area having moved to her residence in Kells village
after her marriage over 50 years ago. She was a devoted family woman and was
welcoming to all. She had great faith and was a regular attender at daily mass
when it was possible. She was laid to rest in Kilmoganny Cemetery where prayers
were recited by Revs Nicholas Flavin and Liam Cassin.


 


EUCHARISTIC MINISTERS: If any person is
willing to become a Eucharistic Minister or know of someone who is suitable
then please contact any member of the Parish Pastoral Council or Rev. Nicholas
Flavin.


 


THE PAT WALSH MEMORIAL COMMITTEE will hold a meeting
in St. Leonard’s Hall, Dunamaggan on Tuesday 24th February at 8.00
p.m. to plan for the Annual Parades in 2015 and 2016. All are welcome to attend
