KELLS HANDBALL CLUB: 40 x 20 County Results: Minor Singles Final: Peter Funchion, beat Mick Conville (St. Canice’s); Intermediate Singles Final: Brendan Burke, beat C.J. Delaney. Senior Doubles: Ciaran Neary/Michael Walsh (Talbot’s Inch) beat Patrick Funchion/partner;
Senior B Singles Final: Ger McGrath beat Eoghan Hennessy (Clogh). The Kells representatives in the County Juvenile U14B Singles were Liam Walshe and Jack Crehan.
In the Adult 40x20 All Irelands Kells Club will be represented in 4 All Ireland Finals in the coming week. In the Ladies B Doubles by Marie Walshe, in the U 21 Singles by Patrick Funchion, in the U 21 Doubles by Peter & Patrick Funchion and in the Intermediate Doubles by Brain Manogue.
In the One Wall Competition Kells had 5 representatives in the UL one wall tournament held on the 2nd April. They were Stephen O’Dwyer (Men’s C), Dan Breen, John Fitzgerald and Niall Mullally all in Men’s B and Eamon Foley in Men’s A. All performed very well throughout the day and two titles came back to Kells with Stephen O Dwyer winning Men’s C out of a field of 24 competitors and Dan Breen winning the Men’s B Plate. Stephen had to play 4 and Dan had to play 6 games to win their titles.

THE HISTORY OF DUNAMAGGAN group will have their next meeting on Friday 15th April at 8.00 p.m. in St. Eoghan’s Centre, Kilmoganny. All are welcome to attend especially those who have any material or photographs which they consider as relevant for inclusion in the history.
DOUBLE ALL-IRELAND VICTORIES: The Phelan Family of Dunamaggan are celebrating the captaining of two All-Ireland winning colleges teams during the past week. Niamh Phelan captained St. Brigid’s College Callan to win the Cadets Volleyball B title with fellow Dunamaggan girls Eleanor Costello and Gemma Long as members of the team panel.
On Saturday last in Thurles, her brother William Phelan, not only captained St. Kieran’s College to victory in the Senior A Colleges All-Ireland final against Coláiste Christ Rí from Limerick on a scoreline of 2 – 10 to 1 – 11 but he was also named as Man of the Match. He was joined on the team panel by Peter Kenneally from Kilmoganny.

AT THE LAUNCH OF THE AGE FRIENDLY ALLIANCE STRATEGY in the Ormond Hotel, Kilkenny last Wednesday were many representatives from Kilmoganny, Dunamaggan and St. Joseph’s Home, Kilmoganny. All those who took part in the earlier consultations which the Alliance held during the past year were invited. The strategy was launched by Screen Legend, Maureen O’Hara. The Garda Band provided musical entertainment for the guests.
