KILMOGANNY BRIDGE CLUB: The Results of Wednesday 25th
June were: 1st Grace Landy & Philip Brennan; 2nd;
Jackie Kenneally & Joan Cody; 3rd Margaret Grace & Eileen
Grace. Bridge starts at 8.00 p.m. each Wednesday evening in St. Eoghan’s
Centre, Kilmoganny and visitors are very welcome especially those from clubs
which have ceased for the summer.

DUNAMAGGAN LADIES GAELIC FOOTBALL: Croke Park Visit: 40 girls from the club will take part in the Gaelic4Girls National
Blitz in Croke Park on Monday 6th July. The club is arranging a bus
to travel to the event. All players, mentors, family, friends or anybody else
interested in going should contact Áine Walsh (Lahart) or Anne Davis by Friday
26th June. The cost is €8 per person or €15 for two people.  


 


CEMETERY MASSES will be celebrated on Friday 10th July in Kilmoganny,
Wednesday 15th July in Kilree and on Friday 17th July in
Dunamaggan. All masses will be at 8.00 p.m. On Sunday 19th July the
9.30 a.m. mass in Kilmoganny will be offered for those buried in the village
cemetery in Kilmoganny.


 


SUNDAY MORNING MASS
RETURNS
to St. Eoghan’s Church, Kilmoganny after an
absence of three years on Sunday 5th July at 9.30 a.m. Also morning
mass will be celebrated in St. Leonard’s Church, Dunamaggan on Tuesday mornings
at 9.30 a.m. Recent diocesan clerical changes have facilitated these additional
masses.


 


A COFFEE MORNING was held in St. Joseph’s Care Home for the Elderly in Kilmoganny on
last Thursday. The management of St. Joseph’s Home would like to thank all who
supported the venture as over €1,000 was raised. Volunteers are requested for
bag packing in Dunnes, McDonagh Junction on this Friday and Saturday 3rd
& 4th July. Anyone available even for a short time is asked to
contact the Home at 051 – 648091.


 


RETIREMENT: Ms Josephine Molloy, Principal, of St. Brigid’s School, Kells who
retired at the end of the school year had been a member of the staff for 35 years
and principal for 22 years. To mark her retirement a special mass was
celebrated in the school on Friday last, the final day of term in the school.
Rev. Nicholas Flavin P.P. celebrated the mass which was attended by pupils,
parents and past pupils. Best wishes were conveyed to Ms. Molloy by those
present on her great contribution to the people of Kells during her 35 years of
service as a teacher and school principal. Her successor as Principal in the
school will be Ms. Irene Brown who has been assistant teacher in the school for
the past 22 years.


 


SCHOOL GRADUATION:
Last Wednesday, 24th June, St. Eoghan’s N.S. held its Graduation
Mass and also raised its Active School Flag. Family members were in attendance
as well as all the children in the school. The seven children in sixth class
received Graduation Medals. Rev. Nicholas Flavin said the Mass and a PowerPoint
display showed some of the memorable moments the children had in the school.
The children who received the medals were: Colin Fitzpatrick, Gavin Cleere,
Kieran Keech, Nathan Drennan, Jack Walsh, Leona Drennan and Ella Dunne. After
Mass Ella Dunne raised the Active School Flag. The school received this because
of the many and varied activities the children take part in. These range from
Hill Walking on Sliabh na mBan to hurling training at break times. The
celebrations concluded with the children performing Hip Hop and Creative Dance
routines for everyone present. A most enjoyable day was had by all.


 


KELLS VILLAGE UPGRADE: At present Kilkenny Co. Council are in the process of upgrading
footpaths, roads etc in Kells village. At a recent Fianna Fáil meeting Cllr.
Matt Doran thanked the Council engineers and officials for their fulfilment of
an undertaken which they made to him following representations which he made on
behalf of the Kells Community in 2013. The undertaken given then was that the
upgrading work would be carried out in 2015. Cllr. Doran also expressed his
thanks and that of the Parents’ Association of St. Leonard’s School in
Dunamaggan for the safety improvements which the County Council have recently
carried out near the school in Dunamaggan.
