DUNAMAGGIN LADIES GAELIC FOOTBALL U16’s had a very successful first outing in the green and gold when they were victorious over Piltown in Dunnamaggin on Thursday evening last 30th July. While the young Dunnamaggin team were missing a number of players they took control of the game from the outset and scored an early goal. The first half continued with the Dunnamaggin girls maintaining dominance in all positions resulting in a half time score of Dunnamaggin 3 - 4 to Piltown 0 - 1. The second half began with the introduction of some fresh legs by Piltown, however, the Dunnamaggin girls showed no signs of tiring and continued their dominance unabated. The team fought hard for every ball and their ‘never give up’ attitude resulted in some fine scores. Lauren Walsh was solid in goal, while Aoife Mulhall and Ellen Burke’s tight defensive play made it very difficult for the opposition to shoot on goal. Sarah Davis, Emma Denny and Ciara Farrell were in control of midfield and delivered some very accurate balls to the forward line. Emily Cody and Sarah Doherty, in the forwards, continuously put pressure on the Piltown defence which resulted in some great scores. The final score was Dunnamaggin 8 - 6 Piltown 4 - 8. Well done girl on a great team performance. The girls are competing in the reduced side league/ championship with teams playing 7 to 11 a side. Both teams played 8 a side on this occasion. Panel: Aoife Mulhall, Emma Denny, Lauren Walsh, Sarah Davis, Sarah Doherty, Emily Cody, Ellen Burke, Ciara Farrell. Next up are Barrow Gaels at the end of August and Clara at the end of September.
