FIRST HOLY COMMUNION was celebrated during Mass at 10.00 a.m. for the pupils of St. Eoghan’s School, Kilmoganny in St. Eoghan’s Church, Kilmoganny last Sunday 22nd May. The children who received their First Holy Communion were: Gavin Cleere, Leona Drennan, Nathan Drennan, Ella Dunne, Colin Fitzpatrick and Kievan Keech. Parish Priest, Rev. Nicholas Flavin thanked the teachers and parents for preparing their children for the sacrament. The children read the readings and prayers of the faithful as well as presenting gifts at the offertory.
THE NEXT MEETING OF DUNAMAGGAN PARISH PASTORAL COUNCIL will take place in St. Eoghan’s Centre, Kilmoganny on Tuesday next 31st May at 8.00 p.m. among the items on its agenda is the Corpus Christi Procession which will take place on Sunday 26th June after 11.00 a.m. mass in St. Leonard’s Church, Dunamaggan. All the children of the parish who made their first holy communion this year are invited to be a special part of the procession.
THE WORLD RECORD ATTEMPT OF MOST LAWN MOWERS cutting grass in the same place at the same time will take place in Dunamaggan G.A.A. grounds on Sunday 24th July 2011. The funds raised will benefit the Camphill Community and Dunamaggan G.A.A. club. The main sponsors of the event are Husqvarna but additional sponsors events on the day are very welcome. Space will be available for trade stands at a very reasonable rate. The day will also include many stalls and activities so that it is a really fun day for the family. There are numerous prizes in the main raffle which is confined to those who enter ride on lawn mowers and have them present on the day. There is a super prize which is confined to clubs who enter 10 mowers and have them present on the day of a field mower valued at over €6,000. THE ANNUAL MASS FOR STUDENTS SITTING EXAMINATIONS will be celebrated in St. Eoghan’s Church, Kilmoganny on Saturday 11th June at 7.00 p.m.. Students sitting their Junior and Leaving Certificate examinations are invited to the mass.
HISTORY OF DUNAMAGGAN: At its recent meeting Chairperson, Rev. Nicholas Flavin, thanked all who have so far contributed material for the publication. He also invited all those who have promised to contribute material to do so, if possible, before the end of September. The initial editing of some of the material has already taken place. A timetable of collating, editing and publishing the book was accepted. If this timetable is followed then the History should be published in November 2012.
2011 VARIETY CONCERT will take place in Dunphy’s Lounge, Kilmoganny on Saturday 4th June at 9.30 p.m.. Lots of entertainment. Lounge will be fully seated with easy viewing for all. Tickets on sale locally or pay at the door. Admission €7. Proceeds in aid of St. Eoghan’s School.
