KELLS HANDBALL CLUB: In the Adult 40 x 20 County League in the Minor Singles Conor Murphy (Kells) defeated Cathal Barry (Clogh) and defeated Conor Condon (Kells); also in the Minor Singles Conor Condon (Kells) defeated Eoin Regan (Clogh); in Division  2A Dan Breen (Kells) gave a walkover due to flue to Philip Lonergan (Windgap); in the Ladies Division 2 Denise Love (Clogh) defeated Aoife Walsh (Kells); in the Division 3B Eoin Wallace (Kells) defeated Shane Power (Windgap) and received a walkover from Lee Quinn (Windgap); in the Master sB2 John Duggan (Galmoy) defeated Paddy Fennelly (Kells); in the Masters B1 Paddy Fennelly (Kells) lost out to Jimmy Neary (Talbot’s Inch); in the Division 1 semi-final Patrick Funchion (Kells) defeated Peter Funchion (Kells); in the Minor Singles Conor Condon (Kells) got a walkover from Aidan Barry (Clogh); in the final of  Division 1 Patrick Funchion (Kells) defeated Ciaran Neary (Talbot’s Inch); in the Masters B Singles final Pat Funchion (Callan) was defeated by Eoin Brannigan (O’Loughlin’s); in the Division 3 Final Eoin Wallace (Kells) defeated Darren Walsh (Windgap) in the tie break; in the Minor Singles Final Conor Murphy (Kells)  defeated Conor Condon (Kells)


 


 


THE DUNAMAGGAN PARISH COMMUNITY DINNER DANCE which was held in the Springhill Court Hotel, Kilkenny last Saturday was a very enjoyable occasion for all. M.C. for the night, Joe Sheridan, thanked all who supported the event and also the Dunamaggan GAA Club and Ladies Gaelic Football Club for organising the event. In their respective address to the gathering GAA, Chairman, John Hickey, and LGFC Chairperson, William Mulhall, both thanked all for their support during the past year. William Mulhall thanked the GAA Club for its support and especially Denis Walsh for his help in establishing the LGFC which had a succesful first year. Joe Sheridan outlined many of the various activities undertaken in the Kells area and thanked Kells Angles Cycling Club for their fundraising during the past few years.


 


BLESSING OF THROATS will take place on the feast of St. Blaze, February 3rd, in St. Joseph’s Home, Kilmoganny during 12.10 p.m. mass. So as to facilitate those who are not free on Wednesday 3rd the blessing of throats will take place both before and after weekend masses this weekend.


 


PRESENTATION OF MEDALS AND CLUB AWARDS: Dunamaggan Hurling Club and Kilmoganny Football Club will hold their annu8al presentation on this Saturday at 7.00 p.m. in St. Leonard’s Hall, Dunamaggan.


NEW GAA PITCH IN KILMOGANNY There was a very well attended meeting in St. Eoghan’s Centre, Kilmoganny last Friday at which GAA Club Chairman, John Hickey, outlined the work which has been done to date on the new Pitch in Kilmoganny. There was support for the development of an over-all plan for the future development of the facility. Matt Doran was asked to spear-head a committee which would develop this plan and develop a financial plan to make the plan for the facility a reality. The Chairman stated that the first priority is the erection of goal posts and the nets behind the goals. It is hoped that the pitch would be suitable for use this coming May.


THE PAT WALSH MEMORIAL COMMITTEE will hold its next meeting on Tuesday next 9th February in St. Leonard’s Hall, Dunamaggan at 8.00 p.m. Chairperson, Ned Kirwan, wishes to express his thanks to all who brought along photographs for scanning on Sunday week last so that they could be exhibited during the Easter celebrations. He also extends thanks to those who have memorabilia which they are willing to exhibit. It is expected that there will be another occasion for scanning photographs in the near future. Anyone who has memorabilia, from the past century, which they wish to exhibit during the Easter Celebrations, is asked to contact any member of the committee as soon as possible.
