DUNAMAGGIN U 16 HURLERS played the much fancied Naas side on Wednesday last in Dunnamaggin in their first league game. Robbie McCauley opened the scoring for Dunnamaggin with two good frees but Naas responded with a point of their own. Dylan Wall then got Dunnamaggin's first point from play. Naas however responded with their own first point from play. This was turning out to be a real really close encounter with scores at a premium. The accurate free taking and shooting was a feature of this first half with Robbie McCauley adding an additional four frees to his tally to send his side in one point to the good at half time. Dunnamaggin 0 - 07 to Naas 0 – 06. Naas were quickest out of the blocks in the second half and hit Dunnamaggin for three answered points before Dunnamaggin registered their first score of the half with 10 minutes gone. Naas then had a man sent to the line for a second yellow card. It was however Naas who scored two points immediately after this which gave them a great lift. As the game headed into the final 10 minutes Dunnamaggin did indeed start to narrow the lead with good points from Conor Hoban and a point of a penalty from Harry Walsh. However, each time Dunnamaggin scored Naas seemed to be able to respond. Further points from Robbie McCauley and Ian Walsh (2) finished out the scoring for Dunnamaggin and as the game drew to a close goalie Denis Walsh had to be very alert on the line to keep the difference to the minimum. Full Time score: Dunnamaggin  0 - 14 Naas 0 - 15. Panel:-Denis Walsh, Dillon Carroll, Harry Walsh, Andy Hickey, Alex Moore, Darragh O’Keeffe, Dylan Crehan, Conor Brett, Ian Walsh, Adam Farrell, Conor Hoban, Jack O’Connell, Dan O’Neill (Derek Carroll), Dylan Wall (Darragh Walsh), Robbie McCauley, Ger Coffey, Ger Donovan, Eddie Dunne inj.
