ST. EOGHAN’S SCHOOL, KILMOGANNY have been awarded their 6th Green Flag. They received the flag for their work on the theme ‘Global Citizenship Litter and Waste’. They have been very successful in reducing waste in their school through various methods e.g. ‘No Waste Lunchbox Day’, recycling.

They have raised awareness about our rights and responsibilities as citizens of Ireland and also in a global context. They participated in the ‘Shoebox Appeal’ for Hope at Christmas. Fourteen shoeboxes were collected and these were gifted by the Hope Foundation to children in Eastern Europe, Syrian Refugee camps and some African countries.

The school has also been learning about Fairtrade and how we can do our bit by switching to Fairtrade products. They took part in An Taisce’s ‘National Spring Clean’ as part of their Day of Action. Well done to all the children involved and their message is: Recycle your waste, Don’t put it in the bin, By doing this, Our planet will win!
