KILMOGANNY BRIDGE CLUB: The results of Wednesday June 15th were: 1st:  Philip Brennan & Myra Hickey; 2nd: Emer Wallace & Carmel O’Sullivan; Joint 3rd: Grace Landy & Elizabeth Lanigan and Nicholas Flavin & Eileen Grace. Bridge takes place each Wednesday at 8.00 p.m. in St. Eoghan’s Centre, Kilmoganny. Visitors are always welcome and it is not necessary to have a partner as one will be provided on the night. On Wednesday 29th June there will be a prize night and fundraising night for a Kenyan project being organised by teachers & pupils of Scoil Eamonn Rís, Callan. Your support will be appreciated.

KELLS HANDBALL CLUB: Kells Handball Club Feile Team of Padraig Lennon, Conor Brett, Harry Delaney, Ciaran Phelan, Philip Prendergast and John O’Brien travelled to Touraneena, Co. Waterford on Saturday 18th June to compete in 40 x 20 Division 4.  They met Ballydesmond, Cork, Kingscourt, Cavan, St. Brigid’s Dublin and Conna1, Cork.  They defeated St. Brigid’s Dublin in the Division 4 Plate Final to bring home bronze medals. Padraig Lennon took home the silver medal for the skills competition. The Girls Feile Team of Breanna O’Dwyer, Ciara Walsh, Meg Ryan, Olivia Mahoney and Rachel Doherty traveled to Newport, Co. Tipperary to compete in 40 x 20 Division 3.  They played Conna, Cork, Clogh, Kilkenny and Cullohill2, Laois. The girls took home silver medals, as they lost out in the Final to Clogh. Olivia Mahoney got a bronze medal for the skills competition. Congratulations and very well done to all the players, coaches and their parents on a great day’s handball.


 


CEMETERY MASSES: The cemetery masses will be celebrated in Dunamaggan parish on the following days: Kilmoganny cemetery on Wednesday 8th July; Kilree cemetery on Wednesday 13th July and in Dunamaggan Cemetery on Friday 15th. All masses will be at 8.00 p.m. Mass will be celebrated in St. Eoghan’s Church on Sunday 10th July for those buried in the cemetery in Kilmoganny village.


 


CELEBRATIONS IN KELLS: The community of Kells came out in great numbers to celebrate the retirement of Ms. Josie Molly, who retired as Principal of St. Brigid’s School, Kells last summer. Josie won spent her whole teaching life in Kells first as assistant to Colette O’Dwyer and then as Principal for 23 years. The celebrations took place locally in Delaney’s Lounge. Her successor, Irene Browne, was master of ceremonies. Rev. Nicholas, Chairperson of the Board of Management thanked Josie for her dedication and commitment and presented her on behalf of the Board of Management and the Community with some beautiful books, carved in stone by local artist, Kevin Fennelly.   Mary T. Power spoke on behalf of the community and thanked Josie for her many years of dedicated service in the community. Josie thanked all and expressed her great joy and surprise at the large number who turned up for the occasion. She said that she had learned a lot from all the pupils whom she taught.
