KELLS SCOUTS; A group  of 22 scouts and  their leaders are travelling to Chelmsford in Essex to a jamboree for their summer camp from the 6th to the 10th of August There are approximately 10,000 scouts attending the  jamboree this is the highlight of all the trips they have done this year.


KILMOGANNY BRIDGE CLUB: The results of Wednesday July 20th were: 1st:: Therese Walsh, 2nd: Philip Brennan; 3rd: Mary Dunne, 4th; Nicholas Flavin. Bridge takes place each Wednesday at 8.00 p.m. in St. Eoghan’s Centre, Kilmoganny. Visitors are always welcome and it is not necessary to have a partner as one will be provided on the night.

KELLS HANDBALL CLUB: The 60 x 30 Irish Nationals were held in Kilkenny, Carlow and Laois venues. Kells participants were Brian Manogue, Ger McGrath, Anthony Martin, Marie Walshe and Harry Delaney. For the U 13 Doubles Harry teamed up with Sean Barron (Windgap) but lost out in the plate semi-final. In the Men’s B Doubles Ger McGrath and Anthony Martin defeated Terry McElvaney/Conor O’Gorman (Monaghan) but then retired due to injury in their quarter final and gave a walkover to Michael Conville/Christopher Dawson (Kilkenny). In the Men’s Open Singles Brian Manogue was defeated by C. J. Fitzpatrick. In the Ladies B/C Marie Walshe teamed up with Rebecca Mulholland (O’Loughlin’s). In the One Wall tournament held in Hospital, Co. Limerick. Eoin Brennan Kells competed and won out the U 17 Singles.


 


The County One Wall tournament was held in Windgap. Dan Breen Kells competed in the Men’s Open where he defeated Fergal Lalor and Dylan Caulfield but was defeated by Ciaran Neary in the Final.


 


KILMOGANNNY FESTIVAL: Preparations are underway for Kilmoganny Fundraising Festival which will commence on this Wednesday 27th July with the launch of ‘I’m not a celebrity keep me in here`. The Schedule of events is the Wood is as follows: Wednesday 27th at 8.00 p.m. the contestants enter jungle/launch for the beginning of their experiences. On Thurs


Day at 12.00 noon there is a challenge and at 5.00 p.m. there is the first jungle dinner and at 8.00p.m. there is a. trial. On Friday at 12.00 noon there is the second challenge and at 5.00 p.m. the second jungle dinner, at 8.00p.m. there is a trial and at 9.00p.m. the is the voting of contestants from the jungle. Your support is necessary to ensure that your supported contestant remains in the jungle. On Saturday at 12.00 noon there is another challenge followed by a trial at 4.00 p.m., and further voting at 5.00 p.m. which will result in a further reduction in the number of contestants in the jungle. This is followed by 6.00 p.m. dinner and further voting at 7.30 with at 8.00p.m. the final challenge for the day. On Sunday at 12.00 noon there is additional vote off and 12.30p.m.the final challenge before the 5.30p.m. trial followed by final voting and counting of votes and crowning of King or Queen of jungle


 


A FIELD DAY will take place in the New GAA field in Kilmoganny on Sunday 30th July as part of the Kilmoganny Festival. Any Items for Raffle, ,Bric-a-brac etc for the field day can be dropped to St. Leonard’s,  Dunnamaggin NS this week  from Tuesday – Saturday  between 7.00 p.m. and-8.0-0 p.m. All item will be very gratefully accepted. Anyone who is available to help on the day or could help with providing food and cakes would also be appreciated. Thanks in advance. 


 


DUNNAMAGGIN U12 HURLERS reached the final of the Ballyhale blitz held as the of the Castlegannon show recently. They beat Rower Inistiogue and Ballyhale on their way to the final against neighbours Carrickshock who were victorious. DUNNAMAGGIN MINOR HURLERS played Slieverue on Monday last in Round 6 of their league in Dunnamaggin. Dunnamaggin were very quick out of the blocks with Victor Costello and Morgan Thomas finding the post with ease and great accuracy in the first quarter. Slieverue did respond with a few well taken points but it was the Dunnamaggin lads who were finding a great rhythm to their play and with Alex Moore and Roy Cullen (3) also finding the posts it was Dunnamaggin 0 - 14 Slieverue 0 - 05 at half time.


Dunnamaggin put the game beyond any doubt in the opening minutes of the second half when Alex Moore scored a good goal, Morgan Thomas and Victor Costello adding further points before Dara Keane found the net again. Slieverue did battle hard to add two further points and force a superb save from Keeper Harry Walsh but Nicky O'Shea and Dara Keane added further points to close out the game.
