The All Ireland One Wall Nationals were held in Breaffy House from the 29th June to the 3rd
July. Kells and Kilkenny were represented by Stephen O Dwyer in u18, Ger McGrath and John Fitzgerald in Men’s C and Dan Breen in U23 B. Stephen was unlucky to come up against U17 World One Wall Champion and eventual champion Joshua Garcia (USA) in his first round but gave a great showing and this is great experience for Stephen as he is minor next year. Ger McGrath came through a huge field in Men’s C. He defeated Danny Reilly (Dublin) Brendan McDonagh (Ross) and pulled out a top drawer performance to defeat Peter Flannigan 17-8 to qualify for the final but unfortunately found Daniel Fenlon (Carlow) to hot to handle and was defeated 21-12 in his All Ireland Final. John Fitzgerald lost out in Round 1 but qualified for
the Plate Final in which he was defeated by Eddie McAvitt (Armagh). Dan competed in the
U23 B Grade where he played Murtagh Condron (Kildare) in his 1st round and completely destroyed him wining 25-2, he then played Mark Quinn (Longford) and beat him 17-9 to qualify for the National Final against Shane Walsh (Kilkenny). Dan started off well going 3-0 up rolling out point number 2, this was the trend of the game as Dan blew away his opponent winning 31-8 to win the All Ireland and his first ever Singles All Ireland having lost out in the U23 B 40x20 All
Ireland in April. Following the finals Ger was presented with his runner up award and Dan with his title by current 3 time senior world champion, 8 in a row 40x20 Senior All Ireland Champion Paul Brady (Cavan). Well done to the lads and best of luck to Dan & Ger in the 60x30 All Ireland Nationals next weekend in the U23 Grade.
